Beta Alpha Psi named “Superior” chapter for fifth consecutive year
Again and again, Beta Alpha Psi, the international accounting honor society at Florida International University (FIU), goes above and beyond what is expected by their national headquarters.
"Our 113 members, FIU’s top accounting, finance and management information systems (MIS) students, are passionate about the organization and what it has to offer,” said President Matthew Fong Choy. “We constantly are pushing to create initiatives that make our group stronger as well as unique on a national level."
Real estate students tour the Miami River on floating classroom
All aboard! The “Miami Lady” tour boat became a floating classroom when Suzanne Hollander, who teaches real estate courses in the College of Business Administration at Florida International University (FIU), took 100 undergraduates, graduate students and alumni on an educational real estate tour on the Miami River on November 4th.
This critical artery of commerce, running 5.5 miles from Miami International Airport to Biscayne Bay, is flanked by a huge variety of commercial and residential properties, scenic parks and multicultural neighborhoods. Happily, real estate professionals were along to make the details of the properties come alive.
Undergraduate student leaders enjoy dessert reception with faculty
When Donald Roomes (MBA ’90), a faculty member in the Department of Management and International Business in the College of Business Administration at Florida International University (FIU), decided to attend a September 8th dessert reception for undergraduate student leaders, he had a set of expectations.
"I looked forward to the opportunity to network with students and to increase my knowledge of ways I can serve them," he said. Those expectations were certainly met as 25 faculty members and 50 student leaders had a chance to get to know one another. But Roomes also was surprised by one aspect of the reception.
Mission Statement
The members of the Business Student Leadership Group are devoted to furthering the mission of the College of Business Administration by:
- promoting unity and comradery among all business organizations
- creating an open forum through which students of the CBA may voice their concerns and suggestions
- acting as liaisons to the CBA administrators and Dean
- acclimating recently declared business majors into the College of Business Administration by encouraging co-curricular and community involvement
