The annual Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame celebrates the College of Business Administration's ongoing commitment to entrepreneurship and honors alumni who not only are successful entrepreneurs but who also have contributed significantly to the entrepreneurial business community.

Alumni inductees into the Hall of Fame are honored at a ceremony held expressly for this purpose. In recent years, the annual Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony has also presented an award to the South Florida Entrepreneur of the Year and recognized the student winners in the business plan competition.

Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame Inductees

The first 2000 Inductee into the Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame was Bob Bell, the founder of Banana Boat Suncare and the Chairman and CEO of Sea & Ski Corporation. Bell graduated from the CBA in 1981 with a BBA degree.

Our 2001 Inductees were Augusto L. Vidaurreta, co-founder of The Systems Consulting Group and RAM Strategies, Inc. and Joe Merino, founder of Unipower Corporation. Vidaurreta received his BS in Business from the CBA in 1980 and Merino earned his BBA in 1974 and his MBA in 1976, both from the CBA.

“The Magic of Entrepreneurship” celebrates achievements and honors graduates.

Two accomplished young alumni and a ground-breaking health care entrepreneur were honored at Florida International University’s (FIU) College of Business Administration 12th annual Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame ceremony, held at the Westin Colonnade in Coral Gables.

Over 300 alumni and friends of the university gathered for “The Magic of Entrepreneurship.” The event also recognized winners of The Miami Herald Business Plan Challenge, sponsored by the College of Business Administration.
